Black & White Photos

I experimented changing color photos to black and white.  It's still a learning process, but it was interesting to try different things.

Macro Photos

The assignment was to see how close you could focus on close ups.  I don't have a macro lens, but I just used either my normal zoom or my telephoto lens.  I just shot a variety of subjects to see how they would look.

Portrait Project

The class project was to take portraits using two or three lights.  I used two lights in some of the photos and three in others.  I experimented with moving the lights in different positions and used a couple of different backgrounds.  I used either 800 or 1000 ISO, my white balance was set to light, and I shot it in Aperture priority.

Downloaded Photos

This was my first project in class.  It was an exercise in downloading photos.  I took a few photos around the house and uploaded them onto Flickr.

Landscape photos

On the landscape project, I used automated bracket exposures in order to try to HDR program.  I used aperture priority in order to get the best depth of field.  I experimented with the tripod and tried to have something in the foreground, middle, and background.

Architecture photos

For the architecture project, I took photos of the Wildwood Campus of the St. Louis Community College.  I used different views of the buildiing on the outside and the inside.  I also experimented with slow sync flash and different white balances.  Most of the photos were taken with aperture priority.

Flash Photography

I went to the Butterfly House to experiment with flash photography.  I used different ISOs, white balances, and shutter speeds to see the differences in the photos.  The location had different light sources at different locations in the building.  I kept experimenting until I thought I had the truest colors.
